You will revolutionise patient care in the Highlands of Scotland by contributing to the first 24/7 site in the Highlands, whilst unlocking an unrivalled work-life balance for yourself. We offer flexibility in our shift patterns to ensure a healthy work-life balance, averaging 26hrs per week comprising an on-off rota pattern. We understand the value of your expertise and commitment, which is why we are offering an excellent salary starting from £18.49/hr, in line with your level of experience. Salary is negotiable for candidates with strong OOHs/ECC experience, or relevant further qualifications e.g. ECC Certificate. Work with advanced facilities Highland Vet Emergencies will operate from Highland Vet Referrals in Inverness and is born out of a desire to improve both patient care and work life balance for our teams. You will be the first opinion out of hours service for our local practices and assist in the overnight management of elective surgical referral patients. With onsite CT, Ultrasound, DR X-ray, Full Idexx lab suite with EPOC and in house coagulation we can provide a comprehensive and accessible emergency service for our clients. Inverness is a perfect hub to base yourself, with easy access to the Outer Hebrides, NC500 route and the Cairngorms national park. Inverness has its own airport with several internal flight routes making it easy for family and friends to visit. Help to establish a new team This is the fourth and final position in our new nursing team, allowing you to work collaboratively with your new colleagues help shape the service. You will work alongside a veterinary surgeon on the shifts with reception cover until late. As the service grows, we will look to add additional team members to ensure workload remains sustainable. Your main responsibilities will encompass covering emergency cases from admits through to discharge, and providing exceptional standards of care to our hospitalised referral inpatients. We invite applications from Registered Veterinary Nurses who are confident working in sole charge alongside a vet, who can demonstrate a clear understanding of working in an OOH/emergency setting. An interest in ECC/OOH is essential, and you should feel confident monitoring anaesthesia, assisting in surgical procedures, monitoring inpatients, triage and covering admit/discharge appointments. Working pattern Our attractive shift pattern works out at an average of 26hrs per week at your preference, over a 4 week rolling rota. Weeks 1 and 2 will comprise your weeks ‘on’ – which breaks down into 2-3 shifts on followed by 2-3 shifts off within these 2 weeks. Weeks 3 and 4 will then be full weeks off, offering you an excellent work-life balance. Flexibility requests will be considered and accommodated wherever possible in the interest of supporting the wellbeing of our team. Overtime is also available for those wanting to increase their hours, this may be within Highland Vet Emergencies’ OOH service or at one of our First Opinion practices on days. We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business.
