An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to work on our Paediatric Assessment Unit at Queen's Hospital Burton. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated registered children's nurse to work within our Paediatric Assessment Unit. Our Paediatric Assessment Unit provides urgent/emergency care for babies, children and young people in and around the Burton area and provides care from birth to adolescence. We work closely with the Emergency Department at Queens Hospital Burton, the inpatient ward at Queens hospital Burton and Children's Emergency Department and inpatient services at Royal Derby Hospital. The Paediatric Assessment Unit is open 7days a week from 0930-2200hrs. The successful applicant will be expected to work these hours and in time to rotate to the Children's Emergency Department at Derby and work days and nights.Main duties of the jobThe role involves working as part of a nursing and medical team to provide urgent and emergency care to babies and children within the PAU and general emergency department at Queens Hospital. You will be responsible for triaging and prioritising babies and children's medical needs as well as streaming them to alternative services and pathways. You will plan, implement and evaluate holistic, individualised patient care in a safe and caring environment in the most efficient and clinically effective way whilst acting asthe patient's advocate and maintaining privacy and dignity. To provide advice and support to junior staff and learners in all aspects of the delivery of high-quality care. The role will include cross-site working, especially within the CED at RDH site. Applicants must hold RSCN or RN child branch qualification. Details of UHDB sites We have three wards across two sites, with a total of 88 beds for antenatal, postnatal and induction of labour. At Royal Derby Hospital there are:
17 delivery rooms including one pool room and bereavement suite. Four bedded Midwife led birth centre. Four bedded Obstetric Enhanced Care area and a two bedded assessment bay
Queens Hospital Burton has seven delivery rooms including one pool room and one bereavement suite. Samuel Johnson Community Hospital is currently does not provide intrapartum care but runs as a community midwifery hub. Where we are now: We hold a CQC Good rating (from 2019) and we are focused on making progress in achieving compliance with the immediate and essential actions from Ockenden recommendations, as well as implementing valuable learning from recent external reviews and reports into the service.
