Position: Registered Nurse - Pre - Operative Assessment

Service: General Hospital

Care: Pre- Operative Assessment

Salary: £28,400 - £34,500 ( band 5 ) - depending on experience

Hours: Full time or part time hours available

Contract type: Permanent

About the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse to work as a Pre- Operative Assessment Nurse within a highly reputable hospital based in North Bristol. The hospital is bright and modern and boasts the most state-of-the-art facilities. It is ideally situated in North Bristol and is within easy reach of public transport links, local shops and amenities. This role is for a Pre- Operative Assessment Nurse to join the nursing team who are passionate about patient centred care. The hospitals has 8 clinics and boasts excellent facilities for both the patients and staff. This is an excellent opportunity for a Registered Nurse to gain experience in a diverse and busy role.
You will be working as a Pre - Operative Assessment Nurse and responsible for the following duties;


  • Organising and participating in the delivery of high standards of evidence-based nursing care
  • Optimize a patient's fitness to undergo anesthesia and surgery.
  • Take responsibility to carry out required planned, direct patient care to a high standard without direct supervision
  • Contributing towards the health promotion of patients by providing education, support, advice and referral is required


  • Ensuring provision of a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues. 

Who we're looking for




    • Be NMC registered- your pin must not have any restrictions or conditions
    • Eligibility to live and work in the UK
    • 6 months post registration surgical experience
    • Currently working in an acute hospital setting
    • Previous experience in a Pre-Operative position is desirable
    • Teaching and assessing course is desirable
    • Excellent communication skills
