If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a newly registered nurse to be part of our extraordinary team at the Older Persons Acute Medical Unit(OP AMU) Our Older Persons AMU is a 24 hour area where we provide specialised care and attention to elderly patients facing acute medical challenges As a team, we prioritize patient-centric care and foster a warm, welcoming, and nurturing environment that promotes healing and recovery The purpose of the unit is to enable frail patients who only need to be admitted for 24 hours and returned safely to their home - The department is very well supported and has a number of staff that are highly knowledgeable to help your transition onto the ward, smooth You will be at the heart of everything we do, ensuring the patient receives the best possible care. OP AMU is an exciting place to work, great team work and multi-disciplinary working ensures that all new starters are made to feel supported and welcome As you progress through your induction a vast array of learning opportunities are available -To enhance your learning, you will be supported by a practice development team. You will be actively encouraged to undertake further study to enhance your knowledge and skills in this interesting and fulfilling environment.Main duties of the jobDeliver high standards of care to patients and be responsible for a patient for which you have been allocated. Care will be in keeping with the philosophies and operational policies of the Health Board. Act in such a manner to safeguard the interest of patients in your care. Follow the nursing process of assess, plan, implement and evaluate programme of care for patients considering their physical psychological, social and spiritual needs. To escalate concerns about a patient's condition/deterioration to the most appropriate professional. Be aware of the legal requirement concerning the prescribing, control, security and administration of medication. Ability to delegate tasks to a range of staff. Awareness of Deprivation of Liberty safeguards, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act and the ability to raise safeguarding concerns as appropriate. Ability to completed observations of patients in your care and ability to recognise deterioration.
