Based in the University Hospital of Llandough, Cardiac Intensive Care is a 13 bedded clinical area consisting of Level 3 ITU beds and Level 2 HDU beds. It has an excellent nursing team who will support and assist your development whilst you provide high quality nursing care to patients who have undergone cardiac surgery. We offer all new starters a team with an identified team leader this team leader will be responsible for undertaking your annual appraisal and personal development plan to ensure your continuous development during your Cardiothoracic career. In recognition of the specialist nature of this area we provide new nurses a six week supernumerary period with an identified preceptor. You will be provided with a competency framework which will provide the focus for your learning. In conjunction to this you will work with the practice educator to facilitate your clinical development.Main duties of the jobTo work as a Band 5 staff nurse within an established team To provide post operative care to cardiothoracic surgical patients within the intensive care environment. To work within the NMC Code of Conduct at all times. Always act in such a manner as to promote and safeguard the interests and well-being of patients/clients, visitors and colleagues. Participate as an active member of the nursing and multi- disciplinary teams, be accountable for your practice and work in partnership with other health care professionals, patients/clients and others in the delivery of care. Participate in effective nursing, providing a high standard of care topatients/clients in keeping with the philosophies and operational policies of the UHB.
