Registered Housing Manager



Location: South East London



Type: Permanent



Hour: 4 days per week



Salary: £37k-£40k per annum



Our client is looking for an experienced Registered Residential Care Manager to join a Mother and baby residential home in South East London.



This is a permanent position, working 4 days per week.



Key duties and responsibilities:




  • You will be managing the referral process with the support of Business Admin.

  • Responsible for developing Shift rotas for our residential support workers.

  • Writing of residential assessments, pathway plans and other competent reports to professionals as necessary.

  • Direct work with mothers as part of the family support work to assess risks, strengths and viability of living in the community.

  • Attend court as required.

  • Undertake assessments that you are trained in

  • Ensure Unit reach an outstanding/good inspection from Ofsted or other Authorities.

  • Day to day running of the project, policies and procedure, finance and all administration involved in a small Leaving care unit. In line with the 1989 children Act and the Care Standards Act 2000.

  • Managing and working with set budgets

  • Liaison with several complex agencies on behalf of young people/mothers, including Border control, Immigration, youth justice, mental health services, housing, education, and police amongst others.

  • Organized, chaired, and attended team meetings.

  • Maintain up to date both manual and electronic records and databases.

  • to run a home designed to be a safe space for our mothers and their babies.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to communicate with a range of people using a variety of communication methods.

  • Excellent written skills for writing reports

  • A passion for working with people and providing person-centred care.

  • Leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate others.

  • The capacity to work under pressure and to take a problem-solving approach to work.

  • Effective organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise your own and others workload.

  • Numerical skills for managing budgets.

  • An understanding of accountability to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.



To qualify you must have:




  • A Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, social work, nursing, or a related field

  • Some experience of working with Children in a Residential Care Home or be a registered Social Worker will be an advantage

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare will be an advantage if you are not a registered social worker

  • Or NVQ Level 4 Leadership and Management for Care Services Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young people’s Services

  • You are encouraged to become a member of Skills for Care and to join their local registered managers' network to get support and meet other managers in their area.

  • You must have worked for at least one year in a role requiring supervision and management.

  • You should be able meet the abilities, values and skills needed to thrive in this this role (we can discuss this at greater length on initial call). A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leadership role is essential.

  • As a care manager, you'll be responsible for meeting national minimum standards of care issued by relevant bodies. Such as: Care Quality Commission and OFSTED

  • You will undertake Mandatory Training and will be expected to complete specialist training within the first 12 months in your role.
