We are Hestia. We make a difference.

At Hestia, we live by our values and are committed to a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation that provides a variety of services such as Domestic Abuse, Modern Slavery, Mental Health & Complex Needs and Criminal Justice. We are committed to empower people to rebuild their lives and regain independence.

The service you will work in….

Hestia is the largest provider of support to potential victims of trafficking in the UK. We are a dynamic service celebrating innovation and high engagement from service users.

Reach In advocates provide a high-quality emotional and practical frontline support to individuals who have been identified as survivors of modern slavery, including sexual and criminal exploitation, domestic servitude, and other forms of exploitation. This support phase can only be accessed by survivors who have exited the National Referral Mechanism with a Positive Conclusive Grounds Decision but still find they need some ad hoc support.

A day in this role looks like….

As a Reach In Advocate at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Modern Slavery Response service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • Provide remote ad hoc support to clients (i.e. victims of trafficking and modern slavery) who have exited the National Referral Mechanism (NRM).

  • Empower clients through the transition period from high intensity NRM support to full independence.

  • Induct clients into the reach-in service and conduct Initial Assessments, sign-posting and refer clients to appropriate support providers.

  • Provide information on available services, such as ESOL, employability programmes, college courses, and support clients to access them.

  • Identify and assess any risks and put in place appropriate safeguarding measures in response to these risks.

  • Be willing to travel across London to meet with clients face-to-face when necessary.

  • Have a good grasp of public and private services available to clients with no recourse to public funds as well as those who do have recourse.

  • Work directly with all key agency partners to address the safety of trafficked victims, such as the Home Office and the Salvation Army.

  • Arrange meetings with other agencies/services as necessary, e.g. solicitors, police, social services, local authorities, and benefit agencies.

  • Adapt to and sympathise with specific client needs in order to help empower clients.

  • Write official letters on behalf of service users to partner agencies and record all incidents on our case management system within strict timescales.

  • Source donations or alternative sources of funding and deliver donations across London to vulnerable individuals in need.
