What came first, the experience or the opportunity? You can’t get the opportunity because you don’t have the experience, but to get the experience you need the opportunity?! And so it continues. Fortunately for you, this is the one where you’ll be given the opportunity, training, and development to go to that next step. Something that the Technical Director you’ll be working under is known for doing.
You’ll be coming in to manage the quality of both the raw material and finished product, with strong engagement and interfacing with both customers and suppliers. You’ll have the management responsibility of a Specification Technologist and a Raw Materials Supervisor. Where your team will be responsible for the day-to-day checking of raw material coming through the door, you will be leading overall supplier performance and monthly reviews.
On top of that, you’ll also be working on quality-related projects with the customers (major retailers) as well as being a regular point of contact with them, communicating product quality performance. You’ll also be accountable for the Technical aspects of New Product Development projects on site, ensuring a smooth transition through to product launch.
The opportunity to step up is there, but what you DO need is experience in a factory environment working with meat/proteins. Ideally, this would be red meat, but other meats and seafood will also be considered!
