The Gibraltar Health Authority invites applications for the post of radiographer senior I from suitably qualified individuals who by virtue of their citizenship are entitled to take up employment and who are, or on employment will be, resident in Gibraltar.This new post has arisen as part of the exciting development of an in-house angiography suite and local coronary angioplasty service. The angiography suite in St Bernard’s Hospital is planned to be operation by September 2024 undertaking coronary angiography and coronary angioplasty with the subsequent development of a pacing service and ultimately delivery of 24-hour primary PCI service. The applicant will also participate in general radiography duties.Applicants must be HCPC registered and hold: -(i) A BSC (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography or Diploma College Radiographers DCR.(ii) A degree or other relevant qualification specifically approved by the Health Professions Council.(iii) Minimum 3 years post qualification experience in general radiography and cardiac catheterisation lab.The successful applicant would be expected to participate in an on-call specialist rota, primarily helping to deliver 24/7 primary PCI capabilities.Gibraltar is a British overseas territory located at the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula, with a population of just over 33,000, augmented by a further 13,500 regular daily workers from Spain and several thousand short-term visitors during the holiday periods. Gibraltar’s health service is independent from the UK-NHS but is organized and modelled in many ways on it and follows traditions of British medical practice, including professional regulation with UK bodies. The epidemiology is similar to Western European affluent nations and the health services provided are of a high quality. The official language is English and competence in written and spoken English is a requirement of the post.Gibraltar offers an attractive standard of living with a good work life balance. It is easily reached from London in about 2½ hours’ flying time and has more than 20 flights a week to UK destinations. There is a land border with Spain and Malaga airport is just 1½ hours’ drive away, offering further extensive links to global destinations.Return economy class airfares from the UK are payable in full. A rented accommodation allowance is payable, solely whilst on a fixed term contract and upon submission of an official rental agreement and a Gibraltar Civilian Registration card.
