Legacy Strategies are hiring on behalf of our client in the civil engineering industry for a�MEP Quantity Surveyor.�As an MEP Quantity Surveyor, your role entails managing the cost and contract aspects of MEP work packages from initiation to closure within the project. You must be hardworking,�meticulous and be able to work well within a team.�
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Administering contractual terms and conditions for suppliers and subcontractors.
- Managing incentivisation arrangements when necessary.
- Assisting in assessing Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and compensation events.
- Providing regular cash flow forecasts of expenditure for the MEP package.
- Reporting expenditure against the package budget monthly.
- Supporting the change management process alongside other project functions.
- Contributing to the monthly consolidated project-wide cost/expenditure report.
- Assessing potential contractor and supplier claims, making settlement recommendations.
- Finalising contractor's accounts and closing out contracts for the project.
- Issuing consultant, supplier, or contractor instructions for approval.
- Reporting on the expenditure of financial contingencies for relevant packages.
- Providing schedules of rates and commercial input for tender documentation.
- Conducting cost analyses of bid returns.
- Assisting the package project manager in resolving financial and commercial issues during the tender process.
- Supporting negotiations for two-stage fixed prices for relevant tenders.
- Reviewing monthly valuations from contractors, preparing recommendations for approval.
- Reviewing all instructions issued by the project manager for cost implications.
- Supporting the change control process, identifying cost implications of proposed changes.
- Assisting in resolving claims and disputes with contractors.
- Reporting to the MEP Commercial Manager.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Relevant experience in commercial management of MEP packages in medium or large-scale projects.
- Previous involvement in construction projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Chartered status with RICS or an equivalent professional body.
- Experience working on major projects.
- Previous experience of working in the M&E environment.
- Worked on NEC 3 option C.
- Good knowledge of all aspects of commercial management.
- Familiarity with various forms of NEC contract.
