Unify are delighted to announce we are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor for our prestigious client in Preston.



The driver for developing contract value optimisation, tracking Divisional performance of the services business, will continue to develop and implement a consistent commercial framework for the projects within the Highways/infrastructure sector�and develop/adapt and implement a proactive approach to risk management reducing risk to as low as reasonably practical. The role will include leading the assessment and delivery of projects in line with Group policies and procedures.



What you will be doing:



We are looking for an experienced Contract Surveyor to manage and procure the sub-contract packages, whilst gaining experience to take the next step in their career to a senior surveyor and becoming a key part of the Surveying teams for years to come.�





You will be familiar with NEC3/4�and have experience in managing and procuring various trade sub-contract packages. You will be required to assist within the Main Contract Valuation and the Monthly Cost reports.




  • Analysis of tender allowances

  • The measurement and valuation of works (on site and from drawings), for valuations, variations and final accounts.

  • Agreement of valuation dates and preparing, submitting interim valuations in accordance with those dates.

  • Administering and/or advising on Main Contract and Subcontract conditions

  • Subcontract and Design Procurement

  • Subcontract payments, variations and final accounts.

  • Assisting with Cost Value Reconciliations

  • Preparation of cost to complete.

  • Cash management and maximisation.

  • Cash Flow and Turnover forecast.

  • Provision of standard reports

  • Assisting with Internal Valuations/CVRs and subcontract liability reports in accordance with schedule of accounting period end dates and deadlines



Qualifications and Experience:




  • Extensive experience in a services environment of value led sales pricing and general cost estimating.

  • Experienced in contract value optimisation.

  • Experience in preparing and negotiating legal and commercial aspects of sizeable contracts.

  • A thorough understanding of the principles of risk management

  • Strong analysis and report writing skills demonstrating attention to detail.

  • Able to work as part of a team and communicate issues to both Divisional Commercial Manager and local colleagues.

  • Good presentation skills, both written and oral with high drive and energy levels.

  • Proven ability to contribute to the development of long-term business plans and commercial strategy.

  • Proven experience in negotiating complex deals with third party suppliers.

  • Ideally qualified to HNC/degree level in engineering, commercial management, business administration or facilities management.

  • Valid full driving licence




  • You will have experience of working within the Construction industry for a main contractor, specifically on Design and Build; as well as sound knowledge of NEC�Contract.
