Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Edinburgh City Centre
Salary: �42,717 - �50,550 GBP per year
Duration: Temporary role with possibility of perm�
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week, Mon - Fri
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the delivery of repairs, maintenance, and improvement construction works within agreed costs, time scales, and standards.
  • Provide accurate cost estimates, orders, and payments in compliance with contracts and procurement policies.
  • Manage technical construction financial contract management, including monitoring, audits, and reporting.
  • Provide professional support to the Facilities & Property Manager and deputize as required.
  • Support stakeholder relationships and services, contributing to continuous improvement of FM functions.
  • Undertake complex cost/benefit analysis and risk assessments for asset strategy determination.
  • Conduct option appraisals and cost estimates for repairs and maintenance, communicating findings.
  • Produce high-quality reports and written work within deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders and organizations.
  • Represent the Council at mediation and arbitration in construction matters.
  • Contribute to the development and review of policy and procedures within the specific remit.
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
  • Professional qualification such as MRICS or equivalent.
  • Degree in a relevant professional discipline and experience in a construction environment.
  • Risk management, performance monitoring, and project management skills desirable.
  • Continuing professional development in construction legislation and local government issues.
  • Ability to organize and manage workload to meet performance and quality standards.
  • Ability to make decisions impacting best value management, asset quality, and compliance.
  • Responsible for checking estimates, negotiating agreements, and managing invoices and payments.
  • Proficient in collating and managing reporting on financial commitments, compliance, and budget monitoring.
  • Effective operation in a dynamic environment, balancing customer focus and regulatory obligations.
  • Ability to work both in an office environment and on-site, often in adverse weather conditions.
  • Comfortable with occasional awkward positions and cramped conditions during site visits.
