Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: North East of Scotland - Peterhead / Aberdeen, Scotland

The role is needed to support new work emerging in particular HV/DC Substations located in the North of Scotland. Role is more suited to a Construction background, though a familiarity with civils work also desirable.

Role Purpose:

As a Quantity Surveyor based in Peterhead, you will be integral to managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects. You will support senior commercial team members and take charge of procuring and managing our supply chain. The goal is to minimize project costs while enhancing value for money, ensuring high standards and quality for our customers.

Ideally, you are chartered or in the final stages of achieving professional membership with RICS, ICES, or CIOB, serving as a peer role model for less experienced team members.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

Governance: Adhere to company governance, including GMCEs and BMS.

Analytical Thinking & Decision Making: Systematically check and order information.

Cost Engineering: Measure, record, and value work unsupervised according to rules and procedures.

Estimating: Interpret specifications and drawings, build up estimates from first principles, and prepare Bills of Quantities.

Planning: Review and plan commercial activities according to project timelines, including understanding delay and disruption programs.

Project Management: Utilize the company's ERP system for cost and value information collation and cost reconciliation statements.

Procurement: Collect and document procurement information, understand the required steps and documentation.

Commercial Management: Manage customer and stakeholder relationships, measure works, and agree with subcontractors.

Development Recruitment and Retention: Maintain a personal development plan, support the development of others, and work towards professional membership.

Who we're looking for

Essential Qualifications:

BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.

Desirable Qualities/Experience:

Excellent communication skills.

Strong teamwork abilities.

Achievement-focused mindset.

Previous commercial work experience.

Industry knowledge in energy, nuclear, or large-scale complex structure builds.
