The Quality Engineer will be responsible for maintaining ongoing compliance and improvement activities in relation to all aspects of the Quality Management system.

Client Details

The client is an extremely fast-paced manufacturer based in Leeds. They have had millions of pounds investment in machinery and training for staff over the past few years.

Description

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Investigating incidents reported both externally (Customer complaints) and internally and based upon the findings instigate the appropriate improvement plans (Continuous Improvement).
  • Carrying out internal / supplier audits, giving appropriate feedback and assisting departments and other subsidiaries with putting improvement plans into place.
  • Maintaining and managing ongoing development of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management system effectiveness and liaise with 3rd party auditors.
  • Supervising Security Laboratory employees on a day-to-day basis and ensuring that all security laboratory activities are being carried out in line with specified requirements.
  • Supervising and coordinating QA Support technician to ensure all relevant to their role tasks are effectively completed.
  • Control and support all security laboratory related activities which includes: - Addressing NCRs raised during Security Laboratory testing process, developing, monitoring and maintenance of the staff shift rota, control of staff holidays ensuring that suitable cover is available, selection and training of Security Laboratory and 'stand in' staff, ensuring that training records are up to date.
  • Ensuring Quality Management system documentation is maintained and reviewed regularly.
  • Deliver internal training to employees on their responsibilities in terms of maintaining business management standards.
  • Investigate and analyse security laboratory and internal process and performance data identifying and implementing improvement opportunities and actions.
  • Support the Research and Development Manager on trialling and investigation activities.
  • Investigation and reporting of customer related issues, including off site support where required.
  • Monitoring, measurement, analysis and evaluation of all performance data.
  • Maintain all management system documentation.
  • Adhere to Company's policies and procedures

Profile

The successful Quality Engineer will have:

  • HND /HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline (desirable)
  • Experience of staff supervision/organisation (planning rota's)
  • Experience of external& internal NCR investigation
  • Experience of carrying out internal audits (1st Party audit)
  • Quality improvement tools & techniques, for example 8D, 6 sigma, F.M.E.A, Root cause& Effect analysis etc.
  • Experience of working within a quality department in a high-volume manufacturer
  • Working knowledge and experience of ISO 9001: 2015
  • Advanced IT skills (Minimum requirements - Intermediate level)
  • Clear and concise report writing skills.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels of the business including customers and suppliers.
  • Positive attitude with the drive to see activities through to their conclusion.
  • Ability to work effectively both as a team leader and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
