Role: Quality Control



Location: Newport



Hourly Rate: £13ph



Hours: Mon - Thur 8am - 4:30pm, Fri 8am - 2pm



*This role will be based in Newport from mid June, training will based in Pontypridd until this point*



Wright Staff Recruitment are currently working with a major Pest Management company who are looking to add to the current team. 



Position Overview



To maintain and assist in developing and improving the quality control processes at the site. Ensuring that product supplied to customers is of the highest possible standard. Quality Control should assist in promoting the use of best-practice quality system tools and techniques, ensuring they are applied in a way that benefits the sites performance in the areas of Quality, Cost and Delivery.



Essential Job Functions/ Responsibilities




  • Sampling, measuring, and verifying that manufactured products meet pre-determined quality standards.

  • Maintenance of relevant Quality and product specifications as needs arise.

  • Perform in quality function to maximise and sustain continual improvement in standards by ensuring:




  1. The most effective use of resources is made in the support of production processes.

  2. Rapid communication of issues is made to the relevant management level.

  3. That pertinent quality data is kept in a meaningful way and made easily accessible.

  4. That all relevant quality processes are under continuous scrutiny for efficiency and quality improvements.

  5. That information and documentation is available as required to meet customer delivery requirements.

  6. Carry out monthly internal audits in line with the internal auditing schedule.

  7. Ensure the requirements of our IMS system are always maintained.

  8. Assist the Quality / Production Manager during customer & regulatory audits.

  9. That information and documentation is available as required to meet customer delivery requirements.



Qualifications - Minimum



Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software.



Certified Internal Quality Auditor.



Good understanding of statistical process control (SPC).



Good standard of Education.



Good standard of written English & Math’s.



Good communication skill & attitude.



Understand & use of measuring equipment – ruler, scales etc.



Qualification – Desirable




  • Several year’s quality experience in a ‘lean culture’ working environment. 

  • Qualification to NVQ level 4 in a quality qualification

  • Experience in lean manufacturing / continuous improvement techniques & tools 5s, Kaisen etc.



Minimum Skill Requirements




  • Quality / Auditing experience in a ‘lean culture’ manufacturing environment

  • Broad knowledge of production packaging & processing

  • Awareness of modern technology

  • Good communication skills & attitude

  • Team player

  • Flexible – able to work shifts & cover over time when required

  • Competent & self-motivated



Other Skills/Abilities Desirable




  • Awareness & experience of modern improvement tools & techniques

  • Data handling / PC skills

  • Able to work under pressure to achieve tight delivery schedules

  • Wide Quality / Auditing experience in a selection of modern ‘lean cultured’ manufacturing environments

  • Is able to identify opportunities to implement new ideas and generate creative solutions

  • Relevant industry recognised Quality Assurance qualification.

  • Experience of working in a chemical, biological or pharmaceutical laboratory.
