Role: Quality & Compliance Engineer

Reporting to: Senior Quality & Environmental Manager

This role would suit a Quality & Compliance Engineer who is experienced in leading external audits, internally, in a manufacturing/production setting. The job will focus on regulatory audits regarding Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety, reporting non-conformances and simply explaining complex concepts to non-technical members of staff.

You must be an excellent communicator with strong understanding of regulatory audits, systems management, and excel spreadsheets/databases.

Our client is a B-Corp certified packaging and cartons manufacturer, who design and create packaging for a range of luxury cosmetics, fragrance and other brands, with 80 years of history behind them.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

Accountabilities (and supporting activities)

Compliance:

* Assume overall responsibility for the management of all external audits within the business, including (but not limited to): ISO9001, PS9000, ISO14001, ISO45001, SEDEX/SMETA, FSC, B-Corp, Ecovadis, Customer assessments

* Ensure that any Non-Conformances or Observations which are raised, recorded, and managed to a suitable conclusion, whilst also managing complaints and technical issues related to product design and manufacturing.

* Assume overall responsibility for the management and completion of internal audits in accordance with the company audit schedule.

* Working alongside the SQEM and the respective Project Manager, to ensure that customer audits are managed accordingly.

* Risk Mitigation - Instituting best-practice procedures to minimise risk and enhance compliance to help prevent accidents, injuries and violations by standardising practices, policies and procedures throughout the organisation.

* Strategy Development – Developing strategies and implementation plans for compliance-related matters. This includes staying up to date with regulatory developments within the respective industries.

* Effective Communication – Explaining and defining compliance protocols and measures to stakeholders and relevant authorities.

Management Systems Development (including Q-Pulse)

* Continuously review and develop the company management systems, ensuring that each framework continues to meet the requirements of the standard.

* Issue technical specification documents to customers when required.

* Monitor performance by gathering relevant data and creating technical reports for senior management.

* Analysis of data for process improvement, continuously looking to improve and suggest efficiency improvements.

Person specification / Core Competencies:

Experience:

* ISO Lead Auditor desirable.

* Good understanding of systems management.

* Experience of working in a fast-paced, product-based environment.

* Experienced with working with spreadsheets and databases.

* Excellent time management skills.

Skills:

* High level of communication skills both verbal and written at all levels within the organisation.

* Microsoft Excel proficient with the ability to interrogate and manipulate data.

* Microsoft Word and PowerPoint proficient.

* Able to execute projects at speed.

* Ability to work to tight project timelines.
