Quality Assurance Engineer 



Are client is a medium sized engineering company based in basingstoke that specialises in manufacturing special purpose equipment. Due to a growth in orders the company is looking to add an additional Quality Assurance engineer to their workshop engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Engineer that is looking for a new challenge and would like to use their knowledge and experience and join a team to help grow and develop the younger members of the QA team.



Role Objective



To ensure the quality of manufactured and procured goods are in compliance with specification, ensuring good quality breeds productivity and enhances our reputation in the supply of machinery, spares and aftersales services. Actively support the manufacturing operation and ensure that quality systems throughout the organisation are appropriate to ensure the provision of quality goods and services.



Quality Control



Develop and maintain inspection systems and procedures for the maintenance of quality standards.



Monitor and report upon the quality of supplied materials and goods, and in-house production.



Maintain oversight and promote the use of Non-Conformity Reporting and Opportunity for Improvement System.



Resolve any quality issues in a timely manner, with internal departments and suppliers.



Recommend improvements to the relevant departments to ensure quality is improved.



Manage calibration of measuring and monitoring equipment.



Assist in undertaking supplier assessments and appraisals.



Assist with the maintenance of the QMS and undertake internal audits.



Develop regimes to inspect and monitor the quality of incoming and outgoing goods.



Carry our routine inspection manufactured parts from in-house production and sub- contract suppliers.



Confirm adherence drawing and specification through inspection and measurement.



Reject all materials, parts and machinery that fail to meet specification, maintainingappropriate records.



Where the possibility of a concession exists, consult with engineering to obtain formal concessions.



Inspect supplier documentation and photograph components associated with ATEX. 

Visit suppliers to inspect significant sub-contracted parts or proprietary equipment prior to delivery. Document inspection outcomes and maintain appropriate records.



Skills & Experience:  



A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in a capital equipment arena.



Confident and competent to work independently.



Prior experience using standard inspection equipment is essential. 



Prior experience in using a Faro Arm is highly desirable.



Good understanding and experience of quality systems is essential.



Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings is essential.



Excellent communication skills, good decision making skills, good attention to detail.



Computer literate and proficient in Excel and Word.



Educational Qualifications:



NVQ/SVQ Level 3 / ONC/OND  In Mechanical / Production Engineering



NVQ/SVQ Level 4 / HNC/HND In Mechanical / Production Engineering



39.5 Hours/Week



Monday – Thursday 07:00 – 16:00



Friday 07:00 – 12:00



Holiday 25days, plus bank holidays



Pension – 5% Company Contribution



Professional Qualifications:    CQE & NEBOSH are desirable, but not essential



The role will be based on site at our Basingstoke premises. Occasional travel may be required within the UK.
