Job Description
Qualified Social Worker – Child Protection Team
Location: Office-based, at least 3 days per week, within Dorset Council, Dorchester
Responsibilities:
Section 47 Child Protection Investigations:
thorough investigations in line with UK statutory guidelines to assess risks and the welfare of vulnerable children.
Child Protection Reports: comprehensive reports documenting investigation findings, assessments, and recommendations for intervention strategies, adhering to UK legislative requirements.
Chair Multi-Agency Meetings: Actively in and lead multi-agency meetings, including core groups, fostering effective collaboration and communication among relevant teams as per UK policies and procedures.
Direct Work with Families and Children
Direct contact with families and children to build rapport, assess needs, and implement tailored interventions aligned with UK social work principles and practices.
Court Documents and Reports: accurate and concise court documents and reports for legal proceedings, presenting evidence and recommendations in adherence to UK legal standards and laws.
Children at Risk of Extra-Familial Harm: specialised support and interventions for children at risk of harm outside the family collaborating with UK agencies to safeguard their well-being.
Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree in Social Work from a UK accredited institution with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Experience in child protection and safeguarding within the UK context
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adhering to UK terminology and analytical and assessment abilities, in line with UK social work framework
To be able work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, respecting UK professional boundaries and protocols
Ongoing professional development and adherence to the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) Code of Ethics
Be registered with SWE
Have current enhanced DBS
