Qualified Social Worker - Child Protection Chair - Medway

Ackerman Pierce, in partnership with Medway Council, is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join our team as a Child Protection Chair. This exciting opportunity allows you to contribute to the safety and well-being of children and families in the Medway area while working with a dynamic and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chair child protection conferences and reviews, facilitating constructive discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments and analysis of information to inform conference discussions and decisions.
  • Promote and uphold the welfare and rights of children and families throughout the child protection process.
  • Collaborate with social workers, health professionals, education staff, police, and other agencies involved in child protection.
  • Provide guidance and support to professionals involved in child protection, ensuring adherence to legislation and policies.
  • Produce accurate and timely conference reports, reviewing and evaluating child protection plans.
  • Ensure all actions and decisions are recorded appropriately and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of child protection policies and procedures.
  • Keep up-to-date with legislation, research, and best practice in child protection.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Social Worker with a recognized professional qualification (e.g., BA Social Work, MA Social Work, DipSW).
  • Current registration with Social Work England.

Experience:

  • Significant experience working as a Qualified Social Worker in child protection.
  • Extensive experience chairing child protection conferences and reviews.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience in multi-agency collaboration and partnership working.

Personal Qualities:

  • Empathetic and compassionate, with a commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle sensitive and challenging situations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented approach.
