Purchasing Assistant





Our client, a leading independent Oil & Gas operator, based in Wytch Farm, are currently seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join their busy Finance/Procurement team.





This is a part-time, 6-month contract position, based in Wytch Farm, Dorset. This is an office-based role.





Hours:





24 hours per week.



The part-time hours would be across Monday – Friday, ideally working at least 4 days per week. Our client is open to discussing the nature of these hours with the successful candidate.





As the Purchasing Assistant, you will work closely with the Senior Buyer, liaising daily with internal stakeholders to ensure a timely and efficient delivery of the supply chain process.





Key Responsibilities Include:






  • Accurate preparation and issue of purchase orders and stock MRP order including correct contractual arrangements and correct cost allocation.

  • Benchmark and negotiate goods and services (under the guidance of Senior Buyer) to ensure competitive pricing from existing and new vendors.

  • Ensure all SAP vendors are maintained to a high level with contract terms/terms and conditions detail.

  • Ensure best practice on Procurement processes (under guidance of Senior Buyer)

  • Awareness and compliancy to our client’s standard commercial requirements (under guidance of Senior Buyer)





Experience / Qualifications:






  • High accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to follow processes/procedures.

  • Excellent communications skills required for continual stakeholder focused support. Daily interaction with stakeholders and senior management across all departments as well as external stakeholders.

  • A motivated team player

  • Keen to learn new skills with a confident approach.

  • Working knowledge of SAP MM system or similar system

  • Good negotiation skills and basic commercial awareness and understanding of terms & conditions (under guidance of the Senior Buyer)

  • Good understanding and capability with Microsoft packages i.e Word, Outlook, Excel.





The successful individual will need to work methodically, demonstrating flexibility in their pro-active approach and attention to detail.
