Purchasing Assistant / Buyer
Job Location: Poole, Dorset
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday with an early finish on a Friday!
We are currently recruiting for 2 Purchasing Assistants / Buyers for two well established Manufacturers based in Poole.
Duties in the roles will include;
* Sourcing quality materials and components.
* Compare quotes from suppliers to find best pricing options
* Place orders within quoted pricing to achieve required delivery schedules
* Produce material costings from customer-supplied information
* Assist with creating Bills of Materials in the MRP system
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date information on materials and suppliers using the MRP system (price/lead time/minimum stock etc.)
* Pre-progress orders to ensure acknowledged delivery is still valid. Chase any late deliveries
* Review purchases and consolidate requirements to reduce stock levels and orders placed
* Negotiate best possible pricing, terms and contracts with all suppliers (New and existing)
* Able to manage any quality/service issues regarding suppliers from investigation through to resolution
* Building and maintaining good relationships with vendors, including visits to existing suppliers.
* Researching companies and determining the best vendors to reach out to for various projects.
Skills & Experience required
Experienced required at £28,000 per annum;
* Purchasing experience
* Good knowledge of Excel, Word, and working knowledge of MRP systems
Experienced required at £30,000 per annum;
* Strong negotiation skills
* Comfortable speaking to customers and suppliers, with excellent telephone manner
* Able to read and understand technical documentation including drawings
* Able to identify different component types and values
* Good commercial and contract law awareness
* Good knowledge of Excel, and working knowledge of MRP systems
Experienced required at £35,000 per annum;
* Relevant CIPS qualification or study towards
* Previous experience within a Supply Chain role is essential, within an engineering manufacturing environment.
* Demonstrable experience negotiating and communicating with suppliers.
* Hands on experience with supply chain management software (such as SAP, MRP/ERP etc.) and Microsoft Office suites.
* Sub-Con experience
