The Rug Company has a broad supply chain across Asia. Multiple suppliers in the Kathmandu valley provide the majority of our product, supported by further suppliers in China, Pakistan and Peru. We have an extensive product range, designed by both internationally-renowned collaborating designers and our in-house Studio team. As well as a large stock offering held across global showrooms and warehouses, our products can be customised according to individual client and project requirements. Our products have varying lead-times and price-points to cover market demand, with both of these elements requiring a high level of organisation and system analytics to support an exceptionally high level of service.
The Role:
We are looking for a Purchase & Production Assistant, you will be responsible for the system-based operational support of our Production and Merchandising team. The role will cover margin and price conversions for all types of residential and commercial projects as well as implementing and managing supply chain activity across our supply base. You will also produce regular reporting across all channels. While specific supply chain experience isn’t necessary, you will need a high proficiency in Excel, a knack with data and statistics, and knowledge of sales and inventory channels and how they work (ideally through a relevant degree or qualification). The role is hybrid working with an expectation of 3 days office based & 2 days work from home
Responsibilities:
Purchase & Production support (global)
Support sales channels with providing selling price for custom & bespoke projects, based on obtaining cost pricing from suppliers and converting for our global sales teams.
Oversee timely production & delivery of product samples. Liaise with suppliers with a focus on system-based data entry of order updates.
Approve supplier invoices against agreed cost price rates.
Process supplier paperwork through business database.
Manage monthly supplier invoice statements.
Support Production with ad hoc analysis and reporting, including order reports, supplier performance reports, monthly loom progress reports, weaver CSR sheets.
Supervise showroom inventory requests and oversee inventory movement to support individual market requirements.
Support sales channels with stock pricing information.
Competencies:
Highly numerate especially in analytics with an emphasis for attention to detail and a keen interest in systems and accurate data entry.
PCliterate - advanced ability in Excel including formulas, conditional formatting, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF etc.
Experience in SAPB1 is not essential but would be beneficial.
An understanding of margin and price-planning within a commercial business.
Ability to produce accurate weekly supplier and inventory performance reports and analysis.
Excellent, clear communication skills for effective interaction with suppliers, warehouse and internal functions.
High level of English literacy, with the ability to spot discrepancies between purchase orders, design artwork and supplier correspondence.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to perform under pressure and work in a fast-paced, multi-channel environment.
A quick learner, with a proven track record of picking up new things fast especially technology and database systems.
