Public Affairs Manager, Energy, Edinburgh/LondonSalary:CompetitiveType: Part time / 3 days a weekPosted: 07.05.2024An exciting opportunity to join an independent, non-profit, government-backed energy organisation, who are looking for a Public Affairs Manager, in either London or Edinburgh.Within the role, you will lead engagement efforts for the company’s smart meter rollout with political and professional stakeholders. Reporting to the Senior Public Affairs Manager, you'll devise and execute public affairs plans to influence stakeholders in Scotland, Wales, and local authorities across Great Britain. You'll contribute to a dynamic team, driving support and awareness for smart meters. Primarily focusing on Scotland, you'll also support Welsh and GB-wide initiatives. Providing strategic advice to senior leadership on political landscapes in Scotland and Wales is also key.Key ResponsibilitiesManage the public affairs activities in Scotland, including outreach and advocacy to opinion-forming audiences, events, and presence at external events held by third partiesDevelop and deliver a programme of activity to advocate to stakeholders in the Scottish Parliament, Senedd, local authorities and the third sector across GBIdentify opportunities and produce written and other materials for external and internal publication, including stakeholder magazines (e.g. Holyrood Magazine), newsletters and website texts for third party organisations.Support the delivery of the companies post-general election strategy to MPs and develop relationships with newly elected and returning Scottish and Welsh MPsDevelop and deliver resources for use by elected representatives and other opinion-formers across Great Britain.Develop and deliver presentations and workshopsKeep abreast of relevant political and policy developments, alert colleagues and provide summaries and proactive responses as requiredDraft content for senior management briefings and official correspondenceEnsure teams across the organisation are aware of public affairs activity in Scotland and Wales, and seek input from other departments as required to inform future plansWhile this post can be based in either Edinburgh or London, it will involve travel across Great Britain and occasional evening and weekend working.Key RequirementsKnowledge of the workings and dynamics of Scottish politics at all levelsKnowledge of third sector and business stakeholder organisations in Scotland and experience in influencing themAbility to take on responsibility and use initiative to prioritise work and to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlinesExcellent communication skills (verbal/writing) with first-rate attention to detailCreative thinking when it comes to developing outreach activityIf you have the relevant experience and this opportunity sounds interesting to you, please get in touch with our team
