LHH Recruitment is delighted to be supporting our client, professional association, as they seek to recruit a Public Affairs and Communications Officer.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the main purpose of the role is to provide specialist support for the organisations communications objectives and strategy with a particular emphasis on Scotland.

The Public Affairs and Communications Officer will deliver key aspects of the public affairs strategy either by supporting members in Scotland to engage with stakeholders, or by engaging directly. You will track and record all political engagement by members and provide regular updates on progress against objectives to senior colleagues in both verbal and written forms. Other responsibilities of the role include providing briefings, analysis and messaging for members and colleagues in Scotland and making suggestions for proactive and reactive actions following political/media events.

The successful applicant will be educated to degree level or equivalent in communications, marketing, digital marketing/communications or a related subject and have experience of working in Scottish politics, either in Parliament, a Scottish political organisation, or another aspect of Scottish politics. You will have previous experience of running a long-term campaign, managing various stakeholders, tracking engagement and have the initiative and capability to work autonomously, managing a busy workload and delivering high quality outputs.
