The Sustainability Strategy team is part of the Homes and Neighbourhoods service. The team is responsible for the development and delivery of the sustainability theme of the asset strategy. It will work alongside the delivery teams with the aim of making homes warm and comfortable places to live, while supporting the council’s ambition to become carbon neutral by 2038.
In recent years we have seen an increase in the opportunities available through external funding to improve council homes by making them more thermally efficient, the sustainability strategy team are looking to maximise on these opportunities and as an integral part of the team you will work on funded schemes with external stakeholders from conception through delivery and into evaluation.
We have seen the significant impact fuel poverty has on lives. As an energy advisor, you will be pivotal in the Councils commitment to provide warm, healthy homes for our tenants. You will be resourceful and enjoy coming up with solutions; sharing good practice with other teams and colleagues across the Council. You will enjoy building networks that will increase your knowledge of the sector and applying this to continually improve services to tenants.
You will be a skilled communicator, able to engage tenants in energy schemes. Your focus will be to combat fuel poverty but also to reduce carbon emissions in Kirklees. You will support tenants with the lifestyle changes that are required by the installation of renewable technology and various other energy measures and make sure that feedback is used to shape future schemes. You will have open and honest conversations with tenants, listening to their aspirations and putting these at the forefront of service delivery.
You will enjoy interpreting data and using it to prioritise your work.
