Role: Project Specialist
Purpose of role: Plan and manage new distribution centre and logistics projects
Reports to: Senior Project Manager- Newbridge
Location: Flexible - UK
Key Responsibilities:
project manage designated elements new distribution centre automation projects. .
will include, but not be limited to, new distribution centre design and build, distribution site conversions, building fit out, automation installation, associated systems implementations, IT system development, Testing, Training and Operations transition.
Project Specialist will be the custodian of the project plan and will be responsible for ensuring tasks are carried out in accordance with the plan. This will involve building relationships with suppliers and workstream leads to lead and support a team focussed on delivery.
comprehensive plan plans for those projects. Consolidating project plans provided by the workstream leads of Build, Automation, IT Infrastructure, IT Systems, Operations, Testing and Cutover. Identifying dependencies, successors and predecessors and creating those links within the project plan.
with the Automation provider, building contractors, IT development teams, Operations Teams and Testing teams to establish optimal project plans and installation sequences. Manage all parties to be coordinated and synchronised.
and hold weekly project plan updates with each workstream lead and updating the consolidated project plan accordingly.
project task completion and ensure progress is made to plan and adjustments made whenever necessary.
provide support to the Lead Project Manager to establish, monitor and deliver business case objectives and KPIs.
projects are managed to the highest health and safety standards and are legally compliant with local legislation
closely with the operational teams to ensure operational requirements are captured within the business requirements and meet the business need.
operations and other teams in the transition from project to normal business as usual. This will include developing transition and cutover plans.
undertake ad hoc analytical tasks as requested by the Lead Project Manager including process reviews and process designs.
full responsibility for specific work packages on development owned projects to enable experience, competence and credibility to be developed for the individual.
deputise for the Senior Project Manager as required at meetings etc.
The ideal individual will be:
proven project management experience in a similar role in large scale automated distribution centre implementation
highly experienced and effective project manager with a demonstrable track record of personal performance and achievement on large scale projects, in both domestic and international settings
practical and results driven. Able to deliver in the face of varied and frequent challenges
in an appropriate project management methodology with the associated use of Microsoft Project planning tools.
a good end to end supply chain awareness and understanding and a solid grounding in supply chain operations
individual should be self-motivated, focussed and results orientated, with the ability to operate within a highly pressurised and fast paced environment, consistently delivering results and achieving corporate objectives on time and within the agreed parameters.

minimum of 5 years project management experience in supply chain and logistics

User of MS Project. Able to generate Critical Path, Resource Usage and Task tracking
awareness and sensitivity
problem solving, strategic thinking and planning skills
interpersonal skills in a matrix environment.
of working in a fast paced supply chain environment
to work away for long periods with potentially substantial international travel
administrative skills
