Title: Project Manager

Department: Adults and Childrens social care

Rate: £350 per day

Location: Sand Martin House, Bittern Way, Fletton Quays, Peterborough PE2 8TY

Type: Temporary - three months

Opus People Solutions are working with Peterborough City Council to recruit for an interim Project Manager within in Adults and Childrens Social Care. The role will take responsibility for the management of a diverse range of projects as needed on specific transformation and change projects. This is likely to involve, depending on the project, legal, financial, property, commercial and other advisors.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To develop initial, broad concepts for transformation and change opportunities into viable, deliverable projects, taking into account cost assessment, income and profit forecasts, financial profiling, risk assessment, identification and specification of needed external legal, financial and other advice, and any other relevant related matters.
  • To take day to day responsibility for the delivery of specific projects from the work in point one above, seeing them through to implementation, being accountable for costs and income
  • To develop, implement and assure the processes necessary for sound governance and programme management of the Council's transformation agenda.
  • To prepare information, reports and correspondence on behalf of the Senior Responsible Officers on matters relating to the commercial developments programme, including by not limited to reports for Cabinet and Cabinet Members
  • To support day to day the Head of Performance and Strategic Development on taking forward projects across the Council, as needed
  • To be aware of political issues that affect the work area and be able to deal with situations as and when they arise in an astute and sensitive manner.
  • To liaise with the other senior officers within and outside the directorate and with partners as needed to develop and deliver commercial projects successfully.
  • To co-ordinate and lead (or support the Head of Performance and Strategic Development or others in leading) meetings effectively to achieve swift, decisive outcomes.
  • To prepare and as needed deliver presentations to staff, partners or other external organisations on the Council's approach to commercialisation or any project within that, which may involve taking responsibility for organising whole events.
  • Provide full project support including setting up and maintaining project files.
  • To ensure that all relevant policies of the Council are properly implemented at all times.
