This very do-able Project Management role is to join a well-established, ERP solutions partner with a massive client base and a significant pipeline of work. They are a successful software reseller; they have around 40 staff, a track record of over 20 years of project management, software implementation and support and the ERP solutions they sell cover supply chain, finance & accounting, distribution, manufacturing, asset management, business intelligence, production, inventory, warehousing, and CRM.
The job is based anywhere in the UK, but ideally you live south of Manchester down to the South or West Coast of England, and you will be working from home full time with occasional trips to a client site and once a month visits to their office in the Midlands.
You need some understanding of ERP or similar application software and will currently be a Project Manager, or perhaps a Project Coordinator, who is looking to take a step up in responsibility. You must have a solid understanding of how software implementation projects work (regarding business requirements / training / scheduling resources / implementation / go live etc.) This could be running projects at an end user, or of course with a software reseller or vendor. So you may be a Project Manager or Project Coordinator with a couple of years' experience, or someone who has been around the block for several years - they are very open minded at this stage.
Projects are fast paced, and requirements can change at any time, so you need to be comfortable working in this type of environment. They implement ERP into a lot of manufacturing client sites; the projects mostly cover manufacturing, distribution and accounting and finance and you will be involved with multiple projects of 60 to 100 days which will cover services, licenses, and software. You will have a lot of control over your own diary, managing your time and juggling the balls.
Your role will be to create project initiation documents, schedule projects to complete on time and to budget, run meetings, plan, and manage the projects, track and log each stage, mitigate risk, scope and creep, keep great documentation, allocate resources appropriately, manage the stakeholders, manage your own and the ERP consultants time effectively, deal with client conflict, and ensure that each project is delivered to a high standard and is a success.
The ability to manage people and projects in a way that you can get the best out of them and keep them loyal year after year, is essential. They are looking for someone who is driven, detail oriented, and likes a challenge. Self-motivation, tenacity, influencing skills, people management, and a passion for technology are required.
Ideally you will have worked with or trained on structured methods such as Prince 2, Agile PM etc. and you have strong MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) skills.
