New Role!  Freelance Project Manager - Civil Engineering



Our client has major water and pipeline schemes in the the Wessex area and we need a Project Manager - Civil Engineering to run ECI schemes which cover water, environment agency and marine contracts.  The work covers Somerset, Dorset, with some work around Oxfordshire, London and Bedfordshire regions.



A strong background in EA works, pipelines and water contracting is ideal, as is working with Yorkshire Water and knowing their processes.



The successful candidate will be a team player, strong on management of the site team and managing commercials, all project planning and paperwork along with working closely with the site managers. The company have a flexible approach to off-site working, offering work from local sites, offices or from home depending on what the candidate desires. 



The ideal Project Manager - Civil Engineering candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:




  • Good IT skills.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project.

  • Experience of ECI work.

  • Design and Build experience (PC and PD.)

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • The ability to work as part of a team.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the management of civil engineering.

  • CITB SMSTS or NEBOSH equivalent.

  • CSCS card.



The Project Manager - Civil Engineering role will include:




  • Pre-construction activities such as early contractor involvement, tender programmes, optioneering and value engineering for build only, and design and build packages.

  • Working with our Estimator to prepare programmes, methodologies, and budgets.

  • Applying for Flood Risk Activity Permits (FRAP.)

  • Responsibility for the programme, cost, and value of live projects.

  • Liaising with the client to ensure projects run smoothly, and relationships are maintained.

  • Administering the NEC contract. Raising contractual notices such as Early Warnings and Notification of Compensation Events.

  • Updating the construction Programme to show progress and to demonstrate change.

  • Monitoring and managing the health and safety compliance of the project.

  • Preparing the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and monitoring its completion.

  • Managing and supporting the Site Managers, Engineers, and Supervisors.

  • Co-ordinating the temporary works, and planning safety critical activities, e.g. crane lifts, floating plant, piling, pressure testing.
