Brief

Project Engineer needed for a well known construction organisation based in Derby who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Project Engineer that takes pride in their work.

The successful candidate must have a strong engineering experience within electrical or mechanical. Along with a degree in a relevant Engineer discipline (BEng, MEng, MSc)

Role Purpose:

  • Be part of the design and manufacture process of bespoke solutions in the construction industry
  • with a focus around specialist design of mechanical equipment
  • To support and promote a collaborative working environment which ensures client, internal and
  • other stakeholders' requirements are effectively managed
  • Help support the Senior Project Engineer
  • Manage projects from the concept design stage through to site installation
  • Actively participate in the design stage to ensure design meets the client requirements
  • Manage suppliers and contractors effectively
  • Work independently and guide others in the team
  • Contribute to commercial aspects of budgets for projects
  • An interest in sustainable energy is favoured

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Project Engineer will include:

  • Planning skills to identify major project risks early
  • Effective communication skills
  • Understand the relevant commercial terms and conditions for your project;
  • Follow the Engineering Life Cycle process to ensure the correct documentation and approvals are
  • in place for your projects
  • Review design and ensure design approval process is followed
  • Manage supplier and track progress against a programme
  • Manage the customer relationship during delivery, including change and decision making to
  • effectively manage expectations
  • Support the delivery of UKCS Sustainability activities
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm
  • Maintain personal expertise and knowledge to ensure that the company is at the forefront of the
  • industry both technically and in using latest technologies and standards
  • Report all accidents, dangerous occurrences and near miss incidents onto the company system;
  • Drive yourself and others to comply with all business policies, procedures and governance;
  • Talk positively and listen actively across the business and the people within it;
  • Support of the tender process whenever possible

What experience you need to be the successful Project Engineer:

  • Previous Engineering experience, Electrical or Mechanical
  • A degree in relevant Engineer discipline (BEng, MEng, MSc)
  • Strong People Management
  • Commercial awareness
  • Good relationship management skills
  • Ability to work across conflicting interest groups to develop solutions
