Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Project Engineer to be the dedicated engineering resource for the client on a number of work packages in support of engineering works to prepare the site for A class maintenance.
The role would require close working with the client-side project manager and engineering governance team in the wider programme. The Project engineer would be the first point of contact on managing engineering issues with the contractor before escalation upwards if required. Due to the nature of the projects and working at Devonport the candidate would need to be a self-starter and proactive. The projects are also multidisciplinary so a general understanding of engineering disciplines outside of the candidate’s core discipline is required. There is a wider client-side engineering support function to call on for specific specialist support when required.
Typical tasks will be chairing contractor technical progress meetings, reporting on scope changes and programme impacts caused by engineering challenges to the Project Manager, answering and managing the response to TQ’s which will involve reaching back into the wider client site Technical and Design Authority community.
QualificationsDemonstrable experience working on engineering and construction contracts. (Although candidates with more experience would be welcomed and able to operate more independently and potential cover more than 1 work package)
Awareness of NEC contracting models or similar where management of change is key.
Self-starter and motivated
Broad understanding of all engineering disciplines.
Experience working on nuclear sector or major infrastructure projects.
Excellent communicator
Qualifications:
Degree Qualified in and core engineering discipline, Mechanical, Electrical or Civil and Structural
Additional InformationSecurity clearance:
Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
Mobility:
The role is remote but there would an expectation to be on site at Devonport 3 to 4 days a month
