Carluke High Mill and Community Garden (On site)Closing19th April 2024Advertised from 26th March 2024RoleSet up in 1999 by the local community, Carluke Development Trust is a registered Scottish charity undertaking a rangeof community led initiatives to support the development and regeneration of the community, space and environmentof the Parish of Carluke in South Lanarkshire.Carluke High Mill and Community GardenWe have recently secured £2.7million of capital and revenue funding from key funders such as the Scottish Government,The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic Environment Scotland, to repair and reconstruct the A-listedCarluke High Mill and develop the attached 1.2-acre community garden. The project will have a significantpositive economic and social impact on the town, creating a community led facility that will generatesustainable resources and deliver training, education, volunteering, employment, business, and heritageopportunities.The RoleWe now have an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced and committed Project Delivery and SustainabilityManager to join our Team. The role will involve:Project managing the repair and construction of the Carluke High Mill, including overseeing the project DesignTeamContributing to the development of the 1.2-acre CHM Community Garden, working with and linemanaging CDT’s Community GardenerImplementing the Delivery & Sustainability Plan for the project,including putting in place programme of activities which deliver the outcomes agreed with funders and secure theongoing viability of the facility.Reporting to the Chairperson of the Trust, the successful candidate will ideally have degree level qualifications orequivalent relevant experience in managing or co-ordinating physical regeneration projects. A proven trackrecord in identifying and securing funding is important as will be experience of working in a community settingand maintaining effective relationships with statutory, voluntary and private sector partners and funders. Income generated through CHC is reinvested in the LCDT and ourprojects.What we are looking for:We are looking for a motivated and energetic Development Manager to lead the operations of Castlebank HorticulturalCentre and support the development of other projects run by LCDT, whilst working with local partners to maximisecapacity to create positive interventions for Lanark. This funded position is initially for one year, but wehope your drive will lead to continuation funding.What you will be doing:You will lead on the operation and development of Castlebank Horticultural Centre and other LCDT properties, workingto create well-managed and engaging spaces with sustainable income streams. You will also provide support toLCDT-wide operations including project co-ordination, administration & membership management, volunteersupport, board meeting facilitation, and marketing & communications. You will work the equivalent of one daya week with the Trust’s partner, Discover Lanark, on their social media pages and website.The Trust has a vacancy for a Project Coordinator. This is an opportunity for a creative and caring individual withexcellent organisational, administrative and volunteer management skills to play a leading role in the runningand development of a highly successful community project aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of residents of thePerthshire village of Stanley.Working in partnership with existing groups and statutory services, the successful applicant will coordinate andsupport volunteers to run a time bank offering opportunities to local people to devote some of their spare timeto helping others. Activities undertaken by members range from dog walking, gardening, shopping to morespecialised tasks.The post holder will be required to recruit and train a group of befrienders to support individuals at risk of socialisolation and loneliness and to support a volunteer group that runs a lunch club aimed at reducingloneliness.Nairn (with the potential for some homeworking) (On site)Closing14th April 2024The Volunteering Officer will work with the Chief Executive and the wider team to encourage and support volunteeringat Green Hive, coordinating, administering and developing the current volunteer pool (numbering nearly 200people), and leading on the recruitment, induction and deployment of new volunteers for different roles acrossthe organisation - including at Seaman’s Hall in Nairn, our Community Workshop and in support of outdooractivities programming.Context: Launched in 2015, Green Hive (formally Nairn River Enterprise) is a community hub and acharity that specialises in volunteer-led projects and other initiatives, helping to conserve, restore andsustainably develop the natural habitats and public amenities of Nairn and Nairnshire, while cultivating skillsand employability and improving outcomes for residents and visitors. Over the last decade the organisation hasdeveloped a suite of core business operations that focus on reducing pollution and waste, recycling and re-usingdiscarded man-made materials and promoting more positive interactions with the local environment. It has donethis while gradually consolidating its own financial position in support of longer-term organisationalsustainability. Recent investment from the Postcode Innovation Trust takes us to the next level, and a dedicatedVolunteering Officer will be key to our plans for growth and diversification. In November 2022 Green Hive tookownership of Seaman’s Hall in the Fishertown precinct of Nairn; over the last year it has been developing publicprogrammes aimed at re-establishing this important historic building as a community hub.
