This exciting role would suit an early-stage researcher, who has a passion for improving public health and an interest in developing their health research portfolio.
The position is available for 12 months on a fixed-term contract and shall be based within the Evidence Team, who are responsible for the JSNA Deep Dive Programme, which is a rolling programme of in-depth needs assessments about health and wellbeing in Birmingham.
The role involves researching health and wellbeing inequalities, writing in-depth needs assessments and creating recommendations for action.
Key expectations include:
Demonstrating excellent research, writing, formatting and editing skills.
Developing written summaries, reports and other materials (e.g. infographics).
Assisting with the preparation and delivery of needs assessments and other council documents.
Developing evidence-based policy recommendations to inform public health business decisions across the Council, NHS and other partners.
Seeking, analysing and accurately interpreting the health characteristics of the Birmingham population, using a variety of different information sources (e.g. needs assessments, literature, service data, NHS operational data).
Assisting or leading in the preparation of oral presentations (including the preparation of slides and posters) and delivering oral presentations.
Analysing and interpreting qualitative data (e.g. interviews and focus groups).
Analysing and interpreting quantitative data from standard public health databases (e.g. births, deaths and hospital admissions).
