The Production Technician Weld & Frame Structure is responsible for production of our iStream structures to produce high quality vehicles across all models undertaken by Gordon Murray Automotive.
Key Responsibilities
Establish strong team member relations, at all levels with a focus on teamwork and inclusion.
Responsible for production of the iStream frame structure by Welding, structural bonding.
Working with Manufacturing engineering team to ensure process targets are met for production.
Work closely with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team members.
Operating machinery on a low volume production line.
Quality checking for any defects, labelling finished products.
Loading /unloading and assembly of parts. Ensuring parts are allocated to the correct Stillages.
Working towards production targets
Support new model activities.
Support Cycle Time change planning, line rebalancing, trials and training activities.
Checking manufacturing parts manual.
Support shop safety initiatives and manage timely implementation of countermeasures to resolve problems.
Support problem solving activities within the team.
Identify waste in assembly processes and implement activities to improve efficiency.
Be available to work OT, shutdowns and travel as needed.
Work together with GMA/GMAE Engineering members to continuously improve / develop manufacturing process.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
A practical welding expert within the company with respect to Aluminium structures.
Qualified in approved ISO welding qualifications below or equivalent of BS EN ISO 9606-2: Qualification of Welders Fusion Welding: Aluminium, BS EN ISO 15614-2: Qualification of Welding Procedures Arc Welding: Aluminium.
An expert in Aluminium joining applications mainly in manual but may also for automated welding, with the background knowledge and experience to understand the methodology of Aluminium welding processes. Expected to have substantial experience in Aluminium welding.
Post weld quality check to meet ISO standards.
Dimensional verification to the specification.
Strong & relevant experience at an appropriate company or OEM.
Experience of full product life-cycle activities and ability to achieve Quality, Cost and Delivery targets for production.
Understanding of the different assembly processes and equipment.
Works well under pressure, works hard to meet strict production targets.
Proficiency in cross functional, cross company, and cross-sectional processes.
Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients.
Must be a team player who can work closely with other teams.
Ability to support problem solving activities within an automotive assembly environment.
