Production Operative (Yard Shunter)

Connect Appointments are currently seeking a Production Operative (Yard Shunter) to join our client's team working within a wood shavings company in Solihull.

Our client manufactures animal bedding out of good quality (Grade A) recycled wood, which is delivered to the Yard.

No previous shunting or production operator experience required, full on-the-job training will be given, including FLT training.

What's on offer?

• 45 hours per week
• Day Shift - 5am to 2:30 pm
• Late Shift - 12:30pm to 10pm
• 5 days between Monday to Saturday
• Overtime available

What will you be paid?

• £11.50 per hour base pay
• £16.50 per hour for Saturday + bank holiday
• £19.25 per hour for Sundays
• Shift allowance paid

Working as the Yard Shunter Driver you will be manoeuvring trailers using a shunter unit to different areas of the yard, picking-up and setting-down laden and unladen trailers. Plus, carrying out general production duties, including operating machinery and driving a fork lift truck.

Your day-to-day duties will include, but not limited to:

• Drive vehicles on site in a safe manner, ensuring compliance with all site requirements
• Ensure consideration is given to other drivers, colleagues and pedestrians in the work areas
• Carry out general production operator duties
• Carry out statutory checks and report defects
• Ensure on site house-keeping standards are always maintained
• Accurate completion and handling of relevant paperwork
• Use of FLT, shunter unit and other mobile plant

To be successful within this role, you will ideally have previous experience within a production, manufacturing or similar environment. Combined with a good awareness of safe working practices and a positive attitude to H&S; the ability to work on your own and in a team.
