The Opportunity
The Production Manager is responsible for leading our manufacturing operations in both the UK & Portugal. Accountable for your team, efficiency, standards, quality and health & safety, you’ll continually optimise our ways of working to ensure our clients have an exceptional experience. You’ll also play a key role as a part of our Senior Leadership and Management team, as we strive to grow not only The Sofa & Chair Company, but the wider Larkbury Group as well.
You will bring expertise in manufacturing practises and a thorough understanding of production processes to help us achieve our ambitious goals over the next few years.
Experience in a similar manufacturing field is a must and specific furniture manufacturing experience would be preferable.
The Detail
Key Skills Required
7 years of experience within a similar Production/Management role at senior level
Thorough knowledge of manufacturing practices, ideally within the furniture industry or similar manufacturing environment
Ability to lead, motivate and engage a multi-disciplined team across multiple sites
You excel in a fast paced business, managing multiple stakeholders of all levels
Decisiveness: you’re able to confidently make informed decisions
Ability to deliver a strategic plan and translate into transactional activity
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels
Accountabilites & People
Six direct reports (CAD Team Leader, Upholstery Team Leader, Carpentry Team Leader, Production Planner / Portugal, Supply Chain Manager, Production Planner / UK)
Team of around 40 in the UK, 30 in Portugal
Develop the Production management team, empowering and enabling them to lead their teams to success
Drive and embed a pro-active high-performance culture through your teams
Support the business in embedding a learning & development culture through training and succession planning
Work with our HR Team on recruitment where necessary
Operations & Process
Ensure the customer experience from a manufacturing perspective is to the highest standard and put at the heart of everything you and your team do
Ensure to maximise production efficiency as well as optimise manpower usage
Consistently monitor operational progress within Production
Set clear direction through your teams, creating stretching but achievable consistent targets, in line with Safety, People, Cost and Service
Ensure full cost control is in place to deliver the budget and identified cost activities across the business units
Ensure health & safety standards are maintained and monitored consistently
Supervise manufacturing planning, scheduling, quality adherence, processing, materials management, packaging and so on
Leadership
Effectively communicate with direct teams to ensure they are fully informed of business priorities and strategy, and ensure understanding of the role they play in achieving company results
Work with other managers and key stakeholders to understand their processes and promote a collaborative environment for continued learning and improvement
Devise, present and execute business strategies and practices to constantly improve production capability, quality, costs and customer service goals
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, based on experience.
