Closing Date for Application:Friday 26/04/2024To provide a hands-on learning experience for an undergraduate Product Designer intern in manufacturing, enabling them to gain practical exposure, develop technical skills, and contribute to process improvement initiatives under the guidance of experienced professionals.The role will form part of a cohort of participants within the Group Graduate programme and yearlong Internships across the Genuit Group. As part of this cohort, participants will be sponsored to undertake a strategy related project across the group, which will enable the participants to gain experience and exposure across the full organisation.Alongside the learning gained from the specific internship role participants will undertake People Leadership, Lean and Personal Development Training.Manthorpe Building Products is a manufacturer of state-of-the art building products for the construction industry and is part of the larger Genuit group of companies. As a responsible market leader, Genuit has an ongoing commitment to provide timely and accurate product information to the industry and its customers.An exciting opportunity has been presented whereby the successful candidate will be working in conjunction with Product designers, Sales Department, Marketing department and Production department; responsible for the research, design and project management of new products and the development of existing products for both new build and refurbishment building industries.The successful candidate will gain market leading experience in skills highly sought after in the industry:Key Responsibilities:Research current market and investigate changes in the building industry to highlight new product ideas and opportunities.Establish design briefs and write product design specifications to aid design process.Use traditional sketching/modelling and modern CAD and rapid prototyping methods to produce concept designs for review.Use 3D CAD software, identifying suitable materials and manufacturing methods to develop ideas into commercially viable products.Produce 2D technical drawing and other technical documentation to support products through the manufacturing process.Evaluate and test models and final parts to ensure they meet standards and specifications.Use IT to write technical literature and fitting instruction.Provide and assist with technical support for other departments as required.Conduct research, data collection and analysis to support process improvement initiatives and decision making in manufacturing.Participating in continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity and quality standards.Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gain exposure to various aspects of manufacturing, such as quality control, supply chain management, and production planning.Participating in hands-on projects and learning opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings.Skills & Requirements:Undergraduate in industrial product design or engineering design discipline.Experienced in the use of 3d CAD software (Ideally Pro Engineer/Creo parametric).‘A’ level in Mathematics and or Physics.Basic understanding of engineering principles, fundamentals, and concepts.Can effectively communicate, collaborate with team members, and contribute to group projects & tasks.Demonstrates the potential for problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, and who are willing to engage in practical tasks and projects to develop their skills.Strong commitment to continuous improvement and sustainability practices in design processes.Proficient in Microsoft Office and a good understanding of Adobe creative suite.Can commit to the internship programme for the specified duration.Can demonstrate the Genuit Group Trademark behaviours: “We work together”, “We take ownership” & “We find a better way”.Full driving licence.Additional Information & Benefits:12-month FTC = 37.5 per weekBase salary £23kBased at a Genuit site - Manthopre, Ripley - DerbyExpenses covered for business travelHolidays 25 days plus BHPension up to 5% Here at the Genuit Group we recognise and develop the contribution our people make to the Group’s success and are committed to attracting talent from the widest pool.
