Product Design Engineer

A client of ours in the Braintree area are recruiting a Product Design Engineer to join their team. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday - Thursday 07.30am - 16.00pm with a 15.00pm finish on Fridays and paying �32,000 - �35,000 per annum depending on experience.
Key Duties include but are not limited to:

• Lead, and manage elements of design projects focused on:
  • Improving existing manufacturing processes
  • Development, introduction, and adoption of new technology
  • Research and development of new product
  • Value engineering of existing product
  • Gauging reproducibility and repeatability
• Design lead for R&D activities, assisting with converting concept models to manufactured parts, through design for manufacture and design for assembly principles
• Produce and manage product drawings and layouts for new product, tooling and gauging to allow internal or external manufacture

Skills and Experience required to be considered for this Product Design Engineer position:

• Formal qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering to degree level
• Ability to Lead, Manage and Engage with different levels of the business from directors to shop floor
• Conversant with Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement techniques
• Knowledge of Six Sigma techniques
• Knowledge of Metal cutting and manufacturing processes.
• CAD/CAM experience ideally in SolidWorks, FANUC FIPT or Alkart CNC Wizard
