MSET UWS (Under Water Systems)
Templecombe/Bristol A superb opportunity has arisen within our Procurement team within the Thales Under Water Systems part of our business. The role will be to represent Procurement as a Procurement Project Manager, working as part of an integrated team with the businesses functions to enable the Procurement organisation and develop world class supply chain solutions (competitiveness, quality, on time delivery), fulfilling the customer needs and aligned with Thales Procurement strategy led by the Global Category Managers. To this end, and to introduce supplier innovations to our solutions, he/she will play a key role in the early stages (pre Gate 1 / definition phase) of Bids, Projects and/or Product teams activities.UWS is at a critical point - with exciting and significant business growth ahead of it, developing and deploying cutting edge capabilities its customers. With Supply Chain representing significant stakes in Project delivery, strong Procurement support is required to engage in this next phase of the UK Domain’s business strategy. will support the Marine Sensor Enhancement Team (MSET) contract, which is a vast new contract we have awarded – worth £1.85 billion.It will maximise days at seas for the Royal Navy Fleet by ensuring sustained, long-term availability and resilience of critical assets, spares and repairs over the next 15 years.By significantly increasing equipment availability, M-Set will increase the longevity of sensor and sonar capability, which is critical for the Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD) and wider ship and submarine capabilities. The result is GLOBAL Security will be boosted, the Royal Navy is presently fully engaged around the world. The Royal Navy operates ships and submarines across every ocean and continent. On Active duty, 365 days a year.Thales UK will aim to provide full availability of the equipment that is the eyes and ears of the Royal Navy. Utilising data technology, including AI and virtual reality to provide a more proactive, and predictive maintenance systems, the project will secure a projected 450 employees across 5 Thales sites in the UK. Responsibilities The successful candidate will be working with internal stakeholders to ensure acquisition or sourcing strategies for a campaign, bid, or product or project are aligned to the needs of the business in the short, medium and long term durations. As well as working with the bid and product development teams to ascertain the work package needs, competitiveness objectives and target costs. Develop supply chain architecture; negotiate with the supply chain, under these mandates, to obtain a complete and competitive supply chain architecture which delivers the full requirement of the bid/product.When in project phase, you will work closely with key stakeholders and functions as necessary, to manage all Procurement aspects ensuring work packages are executed in accordance with technical, program, cost and performance (quality and delivery) requirements. Skills and Experience
Capability to manage by influence and to convince
Open minded (listen, share ideas) and bring added value / capture innovation
Capability to animate international multi organization project (or bid) teams (requesters, Global Category Managers/Category Managers/Category Buyers, contract management,…)
Capability to speak out and to handle conflicts / problem resolution
Understanding of the BL business model and of products’ lifecycles
Make or Buy and risk management skills
Basics in Finance
Long term vision of product or project
Ability to commit and to deliver
Procurement experience
Bid and Project Management competencies
Bring added value / capture innovation
Knowledge in cost evaluation, Design to Value, Lean approach.
Basics skills in regulations (export control, Reach, etc...)
