A Procurement Manager, Category Manager with a background in public sector or not for profit sector. You will look after end to end procurement within corporate service (ICT)

12 month contact - ASAP Start

Travel to either Manchester or Liverpool on day per week approx ( some flexibility)

Description

As a Procurement Category Manager (ICT/Corporate) you will deliver high quality, value for money services through a modern, resilient, customer focused procurement service. You will focus on the end-to-end procurement life cycle, working stakeholders to develop the proposal, through to contract negotiation, bid evaluation, performance evaluation and contract management.

As a procurement specialist you will ideally have worked as a Procurement Category Manager with a strong track record of category management across ICT/Corporate services/ Professional Services within the public sector.

Key responsibilities will include:

Procurement- support, develop and manage the procurement of allocated categories, up to �25m, in line with internal and external regulation to enable the delivery of value for money. Working with stakeholders, project managing procurement pipeline and plans and execute sourcing, managing stakeholder expectations and category strategies.

Category Management- Provide specialist knowledge of the allocated categories ensuring value for money is delivered through new and existing commercial and contractual arrangements resulting in reduced risk and improved overall business outcomes.

Vendor Management- Implement a vendor management process to ensure a strong working relationship is in place with key vendors to ensure the business-to-business relationship is robust and managed effectively.

Negotiation- Negotiate and led discussions, in conjunction with others if appropriate, relating to ICT/Corporate Services.

Profile

A successful Procurement Manager / Category Manager should have:

Key skills and experience required for the role

� Demonstrable experience in Category Management activities for or large and complex organisations preferably within the public sector.

� An excellent understanding of the legislative and regulatory framework which applies to procurement within the Public Sector in producing tenders and contracts.

� Aware of the current agendas prevalent in local government and local government procurement and their practical implications on the role.

� Experience of procuring complex and business critical contracts and services within this category in a public and/or private sector environment.

� Experience of working proactively to develop procurement services and improve systems.

� Experience of delivering innovative solutions giving value for money.

� IT skills - Microsoft office up to intermediate level.

� Experience of leading on ICT/Corporate Services category management in a multi-site operation

� Ideally, CIPS or working towards

� Aware of the current agendas prevalent in local government and local government procurement and their practical implications on the role.

� Experience of procuring complex and business critical contracts and services within this category in a public and/or private sector environment.

� Experience of working proactively to develop procurement services and improve systems.

� Experience of delivering innovative solutions giving value for money.
