Procurement Manager (Food Manufacturing & Ingredients) – 4-month FTC – Hybrid/St Albans
We are looking for a Procurement Manager with experience in Food Manufacturing, procuring ingredients.
This is an exciting opportunity where you will be at the helm of managing the end-to-end procurement of ingredients for supply into the UK sites. This is a dynamic role, where you'll work closely with the businesses and the wider Group to unlock opportunities within supply chains.
This is initially an FTC to run until the end of August, however this could be extended should circumstances change. The role is to be on a hybrid basis (1 – 2 days a week in St Albans)
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct category management and strategic sourcing of materials, ensuring optimal procurement strategies are implemented.
·
Deliver best value for the category through efficient negotiation and supplier management.
·
Collaborate with the NPD (New Product Development) team to drive best-in-class innovation in ingredient procurement.
·
Lead value engineering projects and execute benefits to drive cost efficiencies.
·
Ensure appropriate material cover is in place and procurement is timed to achieve the lowest cost.
·
Demonstrate strong supplier management skills, fostering productive relationships and ensuring timely deliveries.
·
Provide accurate reporting of buying variances and analyse supplier performance for continuous improvement.
·
Work closely with the planning team to enhance supply chain efficiency.
·
Provide support to bakeries to ensure smooth operations and optimal ingredient supply.
·
Enhance reporting of supplier performance and maintain comprehensive records on internal business systems, including SAP for contracts and PO management.
Key Requirements:
·
Educated to degree standard; CIPS qualification is advantageous.
·
Experience in procurement, within the food manufacturing industry.
·
Confidence in dealing with challenging situations and a tenacious attitude.
·
Proficiency in Excel for analytical tasks and reporting.
·
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration.
·
Proven negotiation skills to drive favourable terms with suppliers.
·
Strong attention to detail and numerical proficiency.
·
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
·
Competent working with SAP, Excel, and Word.
·
A team player with a proactive and results-focused approach
