Working hours: 4 on 4 off, 2 days 2 nights


Position Purpose & Summary
The trainee will learn all aspects of the role of Process Operator within Cargill Cocoa and Chocolate’s York manufacturing facility. They will learn how to operate the manufacturing process safely and efficiently whilst ensuring the product is food safe. The trainee will be available to provide cover on shift once appropriate training has been completed in each area. The trainee will be expected to complete all training programs and their competency will be assessed through working with other teams and support from the Production Manager. There will also be opportunities for the trainee to develop through additional training and project work.
The trainee will be expected to learn all aspects of the Process Operator role within Cargill Cocoa and Chocolate York manufacturing facility. This includes but is not limited to:
• Site health & safety and safe operations
• Risk assessments
• Food safety and HACCP
• Clean as you go: maintaining and improving plant housekeeping, adhering to visual standards
• Process set up, control and efficiency
• Fault identification and raising work orders
• Root cause analysis
• Quality control and data input
• Trend analysis
• Operational maintenance and scheduled maintenance
• Customer service & understanding customer specifications
Minimum Required Qualifications & Experience
• Health and safety awareness
• Experience working in a large process manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of food safety standards, preferably HACCP
• Good level of IT skills- including Excel, Word and manufacturing systems
• Team player
• Good communicator
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Self-motivated, able to work within a self-managed team
• Willingness to undertake manual tasks which sometimes involve working in a dirty and hot environment
• Ability to challenge the status quo in a constructive manner
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
• GCSEs including Maths, English and Science
• Forklift truck experience
• Experience in centrally controlled process operations using computer-based control equipment and HMI
