An exciting opportunity has opened up for a dynamic, creative, and self-driven individual to join the Private Sector Housing Team within the Community Safety Team. The services provided by Private Sector Housing are geared towards enhancing safety and well-being in homes and neighborhoods. Spanning a diverse and extensive scope of work, each day in housing presents unique challenges.Elevating housing safety is crucial for improving residents' quality of life. In this role, you will collaborate with a small team to inspect residential properties and enhance housing conditions within the private sector. This involves inspecting privately rented properties, traveler sites, Houses in Multiple Occupation, and vacant properties. Your specific focus will be addressing issues arising from tenant complaints regarding housing defects and deficiencies.Your responsibilities will extend to working with property owners and landlords, providing guidance and support to improve conditions and management practices. When necessary, you will take assertive action, utilizing available enforcement powers to secure improvements.Your direct contributions will play a pivotal role in enhancing dwelling conditions within the Borough's private sector. This involves implementing a range of informal and formal enforcement actions, as well as contributing to policy development.To excel in this position, you must exhibit excellent multitasking and prioritization skills, coupled with strong communication and ICT abilities. You should be comfortable working collaboratively within a team or independently.Applicants are required to possess a solid working knowledge of housing construction and standards. While familiarity with the Housing Health and Safety Rating System and relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice is advantageous, it is not mandatory.
