Principal DBA - PL/SQL, London Market, Oracle
Principal Oracle DBA required to join a leading London Market Insurer. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Oracle database environment. You will ensure the reliability, security, and performance of database systems, supporting the organisation's applications and business processes. From performance tuning and capacity planning to disaster recovery and security management, you will play a key part in driving the strategic direction of the database infrastructure.
Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain Oracle database systems to meet the organisation's performance, security, and availability requirements
• Perform ongoing monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to optimise database performance and ensure maximum uptime
• Manage database security, including user access control, encryption, and auditing, to protect sensitive data and comply with regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patching activities with minimal disruption to business operations

Requirements:

• Strong scripting skills (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, shell scripting) for automation and orchestration
• Proven expertise in database design, implementation, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
• Hands-on experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, and other high-availability and disaster recovery solutions
• In-depth knowledge of Oracle database security principles and best practices
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
