To further strengthen our Ground Engineering team, we are looking for a Principal Tunnel Engineer to join us. You’ll be working on a range of both new and existing tunnelling and ground engineering projects in the UK and internationally. Your key responsibilities will be: Production of tunnel and ground engineering designs, assessment and checking work including preparation and checking of calculations, written reports, drawings, specifications and other contract deliverablesSupervising, mentoring and developing less experienced engineers, geologists and technicians within your project teams, working with line managers to maximise training opportunitiesAssisting with the preparation of bids and tenders and supporting the pursuit of business development opportunities as requiredOverseeing the delivery of your projects to time and budget, ensuring a high standard of sustainability, technical quality and compliance with our internal management systemsYour skills. On top of that, you’ll have: Achieved Chartered status either as an engineer or engineering geologist (CEng, CGeol, or equivalent)Significant experience in a design environment working on tunnelling projects (including rock tunnelling projects) in the UK or internationallyExperience working in project teams and overseeing the delivery of projects, either as client's or contractor's designerThe ability to support, mentor and develop less experienced engineers and geologistsGood inter-personal skills and aptitude to work collaboratively in a diverse multi-disciplinary teamA deep understanding and passion for tunnelling, especially rock tunnellingA place to work and so much more At COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world.
