Vacancy InformationDays of Work:Monday - FridayTo start 12th August 2024.For posts starting August, applications are welcome from current probationers pending attainment of full registration with the GTCS.East Lothian Council seek to appoint a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of House Head: Positive Destinations, at Rosehill High School. Rosehilll opened in August 2023 to just over 300 pupils in S1-S3. From August 2024, we will both begin our senior phase and welcome around 150 new S1. Each House Head is currently responsible for meeting the pastoral, vocational and curricular needs of one half of the school, though this will be subject to ongoing review as the school expands.The new secondary learning facility is designed to support creative approaches to pedagogy, with a range of adaptive teaching spaces. Alongside up to date and digitally enabled classrooms, there is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) plaza, a Learning Resource Centre, extensive facilities to support the arts, and a state of the art sport and leisure complex. Learning and teaching on the campus goes beyond the traditional classroom and encompasses outdoor learning, learning for sustainability, and interdisciplinary learning. The campus also includes a number of community and health spaces to support collaboration between a range of professionals and sectors.The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they can:Develop an exciting and challenging curriculum within the My World personal and social education programme, which demonstrates coherence and progression with regards to both CfE benchmarks and appropriate certification in the senior phaseExemplify the highest standards of learning, teaching and assessment to support the wellbeing and learning of all, with a clear focus on the voice of the learner to support excellence and equityDesign and implement robust processes to support young people’s knowledge and understanding of the pathways available to them beyond schoolMake effective use of quantitative and qualitative data to self-evaluate and contribute to whole school approaches to ensuring positive, sustained destinations for allSuccessfully undertake a whole school responsibility for the Developing the Young Workforce agenda, including making use of workforce intelligence and developing work experience opportunitiesWork in partnership with families to identify and address any barriers to young people’s presence, participation and achievement in schoolBuild positive relationships with all members of the school community, including partners supporting young people beyond schoolExhibit a commitment to ongoing professional learning with a focus on improving outcomes for young peopleThe successful candidate will be at the forefront of a growing school community and have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to young people’s lives.
