We have an exciting opportunity for a
Principal Geotechnical Engineer
to join our highly qualified team in our Birmingham office.
You will be expected to:
Lead and undertake assignments in the UK and overseas
Act as assignment manager overseeing technical delivery, commercial aspects, financial controls (forecasting & budgeting), planning, resourcing and troubleshooting.
Assist Market Sector Leader to source and develop business opportunities, producing tenders, and build client relationships
Monitor staff time and budgets against assignment programme and agree appropriate actions where necessary
Assist in the management of the design process that may include other related design disciplines
Assist with coordinating design as part of an internal team and liaising with external associated professionals and our clients
Support in sourcing and developing business opportunities, securing business and developing client relationships
Assist with the organisation and management of the technical staff, acting as a line manager, supporting staff recruitment, training, CPD and implementation of ‘Best Practice’ and procedures
Support Graduates through the processes and requirements for completion of their Chartership
To be successful, you will have the following qualifications and be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge in some of the following areas:
Professionally qualified and Chartered Civil Engineer, ideally with a post graduate qualification in a geotechnically related subject
Extensive knowledge of Eurocodes and other relevant national and international industry standards, contracts, methodologies and procedures
Substantial experience at Assignment Manager and Designer level with a proven capability and record of managing and delivering assignments to programme and budget
Able to manage the legal and contractual aspects of Engineering contracts
Strong knowledge of geotechnical and engineering geological processes and design, with a particular emphasis on data interpretation, design & analysis, construction and advanced numerical modelling
Detailed geotechnical design experience including deep and shallow foundations (vertical and lateral capacity, settlement), deep excavations, basements, retaining structures, earthworks, soil and rock slope engineering, ground improvement, seismicity and liquefaction and instrumentation and monitoring
Ground investigation experience including design, preparation of tender documents, supervision, interpretation
Geomorphologic, coastal and maritime experience would be beneficial
Excellent team working skills; able to lead, contribute to and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teamsin a matrix environment
