Jacobs is currently recruiting a Principal Engineer in Reactor Technology to join our Advanced Reactors business, within CMS-I’s Technology and Cyber Solutions Business, to provide leadership for technically complex projects in nuclear reactor technology.
You will be a key part of our team, supporting a wide range of consultancy projects, small and large, for a variety of clients across the nuclear industry, including new build projects, SMR and AMRs, existing civil and defence plant, fusion reactor design and decommissioning.
We are looking for the application of engineering and scientific thinking to complex challenges with reactor technology, providing solutions through strong technical leadership, underpinned by your knowledge and experience.
In this role you will have the opportunity to work on the next generation of reactor technology, potentially including SMRs, AMRs, fusion reactor designs and looking at various aspects of reactor design, from concept design, through to FEED and ultimately detailed design.

We are looking for candidates who can encourage and develop others in the team whilst being accustomed to taking a hands-on approach and leading on technically complex challenges.
This role will be based in our Birchwood or Booths Park offices in the North West of the UK but there will be a need for periodic visits to client sites, as projects require.
Key Responsibilities include:
An undergraduate degree in mathematics, physics or engineering
Deep, broad technical experience across various nuclear reactor technologies, with associated evidence of technical standing
An ability to apply innovative thinking to complex engineering challenges
