Statkraft currently operate two projects at Keith and Lister Drive with synchronous compensators under Pathfinder Phase 1.As Principal Designer in the Grid Services team, you will play a key role in the design and development of Statkraft’s Greener Grid Parks, and build on experience gained from projects in construction and operation.Through your responsibilities on projects, you will play a critical role in helping to decarbonize the GB electricity system, increasing the use of renewable energy and displacing fossil fuels to deliver Net Zero.If you are passionate about renewable energy and excited about the opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment, we encourage you to apply.Responsibilities:Be responsible for the physical layout and design of Greener Grid Park projects taking into account:Electrical plant layouts, clearances and safety during construction, maintenance, and operationAccess for and methods for construction, maintenance, and operationDelivery to site of major plant items during construction, maintenance, and operationSite topography, drainage, fencing, internal access, expansion optionsPlanning/permitting implications including visibility and noise.Fire hazard report and design mitigationHealth and Safety (including responsibility for development of the H&S file) in accordance with CDM Principal Designer responsibilitiesDevelop cost estimates of projects:Building on costing data from previous projects in development and construction phase.Reviewing costs for project construction.Evolving and optimising project designs for lowest costDevelop specifications for tenderEditing updating and writing specifications for employer’s requirements for Balance of Plant contractsContribute to specifications for other procurements e.g. BESS, Synchronous Compensators, TransformersDevelop and build relationships with supply chain to inform design and costingThe role will manage a small team in the UK.Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers in the team and more widely in Statkraft.The role involves sharing information and supporting other in similar projects across Statkraft.QualificationsExperience with a team designing /delivering multi-million pound project(s)Strong understanding of CDM regulationsMasters / university degree in engineering or sciences or relatedProficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD)Demonstrate a keen interest and affinity in working with renewables and their integration to the gridBe proactive and solution orientated with strong attention to detail and solution-orientated approach to problem solvingShow strong communication, relationship building (including multi-team player) and people skillsBe well organised and target oriented; strong ability to prioritizeHave ability to concisely frame issues by providing context, analysis, recommendations, and risk/benefit, both in written and verbal format to project teams.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishDevelop a detailed understanding of the technologies and projectsAdditional InformationA career with Statkraft is a career filled with purpose – meaning that every employee is not just making a living, they are making a real difference to the planet, our communities, and the future.
