We keep the lights on across 29,250 square kilometres, serving 19 million people from Cromer in the east to Brighton on the South Coast.An opportunity has become available to join our Pricing Team based in our offices local to Three Bridges Rail Station in Crawley.Job:The role of Pricing Analyst provides analysis and cost modelling to support the calculation of use of system, metering and miscellaneous pricing, and line loss factors to meet both business and regulatory needs.You will work in a range of different areas including the development and population of cost and network models, implementation of methodology changes, setting and maintaining tariffs, and publication of associated statements covering the allocation and recovery of over £2bn of revenue from 8.3 million customers. You will liaise with important partners and ensure compliance with our Licence Conditions, DCUSA and the BSC.The main tasks for you will involve work in the following :Analyze technical data to forecast pricing and losses model inputsPopulation and maintenance of pricing models and charging statements, with attention to detail important for ensuring accurate information is publishedCalculation of marginal costs and network use factors using powerflow modelling software, scripts and other database toolsForecast and cost modelling for future energy scenarios, including smart metering and decentralised embedded generationProvide analytical support to the annual update and provision of line loss factorsKeep up to date with developments in charging methodologies and understanding the impact of any changes to UK Power Networks, customers and suppliersMaintain appropriate operating procedures and user guides so that robust business process can be preservedMaintain tariff data in billing systems, supporting the billing team with query resolution including direct discussions with customer and/or suppliers on pricing mattersWork collaboratively within the Income Pricing team to plan and accomplish the team's responsibilities over the yearYou will need the following or equivalent qualifications:Educated to degree level in an appropriate quantitative discipline (mathematics, economics or electrical engineering)Numerate and proficient in excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and Access, including VBA, with experience of other Microsoft Office applicationsExcellent presentational skillsExperience working in a team environment to deliver successful outcomesTechnical skills in manipulation, extraction and analysis of large data setsExperience in either; the energy industry and regulatory environment, or power-flow modellingAwareness of contractual requirements and consequences together with experience of commercial interactionsHealth & Safety ResponsibilitiesManagers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control and those who might be affected by the work undertaken, i.e. public, visitors and employees of other organisations.
